Since 2002, many states have changed rank by double digit leaps in either direction. How do we get a handle on which state is best regarding property tax rates remaining evenhandedly unsurprising? We’ve tried to look at the past ten years, but the leaps are so large and they come out of nowhere.
We’re in Alabama and we really wanted Alaska because my husband grew up there, but people are telling me that Alaska property taxes are just horrible. Then we thought Illinois. (friends there) But they’re 6th worst in the nation regarding property taxes!
Now we’re looking at Oklahoma, but who knows what drastic changes we can expect from Oklahoma…
thank you for your advice

Basically, I need to know if traveling from Tennessee to Georgia on tax free weekend would be beneficial. Tax in Tennessee is something like 8.something cents to the dollar, so would going to Georgia on tax free weekend have a point, or would it be better to just move for the one in Tennessee?

Here’s the scenario. Can I attract a potential amateur musician to become an executive producer on my band’s project if he is listed as a partner in our LLC and therefore he can write off all of his musical instrument purchases (home studio , guitars, amps etc.) off his taxes. At that point he is no longer an amateur. He has prefabricated an investment in our business and we will do our best to turn him a profit on his investment. Does this seem like a viable and legal plan?
