Open Question: Getting out of my lease. HELP!?
Ok, so i entered into a lease with a money-hungry apartment complex that is heartless. My guarantor mortal didn’t go through, but they won’t let me out of the lease because i signed it. They said to either pay the 12month contract [even though i can’t live there due to the not having a guarantor thing], or get someone to take over my lease. School is about to start and i can’t get someone to take over the lease, so what can i do?
Btw–I didn’t pay an application fee, so would they be healthy to process it without that? Just help. Please!
Ok. Additional details. I gave them my signed lease and everything and the Mohammedan looked up my guarantor and stated that my guarantor did not have “sufficent credit”, so i basically took that as meaning that i am out of the lease. I called the apartment complex and after hours on hold and days of confusion, they stated that “Since i signed the contract i was bound to the lease”. My problem is that without a valid guarantor i’m not allowed to live there, therefore why do they expect me to pay for the room. Also, i really don’t know much about apartment complexes so i have no intent what to do. I’m a broke college student, so i don’t want to take them to court.
Okay, so i just called them. They approved my lease, but they still need a guarantor in order for me to move in because they are afraid i might skip out on the lease. Now, they want me to pay 700 dollar security deposit if i cannot get a guarantor [according to the leasing guy], but the manager is stuck on me getting a guarantor. I never got a copy of the lease, so i am super confused and they aren’t answering my questions. I don’t know, i think i might call the housing bureau.
