Open Question: Income tax withholding question!?
I need a little advice here. My fiance and I live together and have a daughter who is 2 months old. I am the primary source of income in the household. We are not married so we will both be filing single. I am trying to decide what would be the best option for tax time this year as far as who claiming who, head of household, etc. Here are the two options I am aware of:
1) I claim myself and she files head of household and claims herself and the baby
2) I claim head of household and claim myself, her, and the baby.
I will end up making around $30,000 this year. She will end up making about $15,000 this year.
I am hoping that someone could give me some insight as to which option above will save us the most money and get us the biggest refund.
